Cleanse : : Elegant Rose Boutique Rosemary Nettle Shampoo Soap Bar

Cleanse : : Elegant Rose Boutique Rosemary Nettle Shampoo Soap Bar

lol I can’t believe it is ALREADY the end of the first week of June….I really have no idea how we got here that fast and I’m like dang, I don’t have much to show for just yet lol oh well patience is a fruit of the spirit so I’m gonna keep on doin what I do ;o)

….so on to the next, I was sent a bundle of soaps and shampoo bar samples for review by an Etsy seller called Elegant Rose Boutique and you know I felt like Santa done came early!! lol! I am obsessed with natural soaps and shampoo bars, they just always make me so happy and they make something so routine a little bit more fun :o) I used to hate having to wash my hair because it was such a tedious process but not since I know what works for my hair, the technique, use great products, I actually love washing my hair! I know that sounds weird and I don’t mean it in a vain way. It’s just something I enjoy :o)

So, I plan to review the two shampoo bars— Rosemary Nettle and the Lavender Cypress— and possibly a couple of the other soaps (I will probably for sure review the Activated Charcoal soap since I read that it’s her most popular soap and amazing for your face! I love complexion bars too hehe, I’ve never used a shaving soap before so maybe that one too….we’ll see!!! lol). I have to find out if the other ones can be used as shampoos or not. If they are, then I will definitely review!

Ok, so I’m gonna start with the Rosemary Nettle shampoo bar. It retails on the Elegant Rose Boutique Etsy site for $6 for 5.5 oz bar. These are definitely competitively priced compared to some other brands I have tried. The thing about shampoo bars is they last forever if you keep them out of the shower and in a dry location until you need to use them. I still have some that I bought from last year! I only have the sample of this bar (you can see the size comparison to a business card in the pic above) and I will probably get about 6-10 washes out of it depending on if I lather up once or twice each wash.

Product Description
Treat your hair to a handcrafted shampoo bar that not only cleanses, but also nourishes and softens as you lather. Most commercial shampoos contain harsh synthetics that ‘cleanse’ by stripping your hair of everything, including natural oils. That not only leaves your hair dry and unmanageable, but also dull-looking. This natural shampoo bar is created with hair-loving ingredients, turning an ordinary routine into an indulgent experience, and leaving your hair nourished and naturally beautiful! It can also be used as a bath soap.

The scent is rosemary, tea tree, lavender and cedarwood. A fresh clean scent to clean and moisturize your hair. This is a great bar for all hair types!

This bar also contains a unique combination of nourishing and softening oils and butters. Jojoba oil is a penetrating moisturizer that is similar to our hair’s own natural oils, and is rich in protein and minerals. Wheat germ oil is rich in vitamins A, B, E, and D, improving the health of your hair from it’s root, to it’s tip. A mix of olive and castor oil attracts moisture to the hair and is rich in vitamins, while cocoa butter and shea butter help to soften and moisturize. Coconut oil works to create an incredible lather, and palm oil ensures a long-lasting bar of soap.

distilled water, coconut oil, palm oil (organic & sustainably harvested), castor oil, wheat germ oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, organic cocoa butter, organic shea butter, nettle infused coconut oil, aloe gel, sodium hydroxide, rosemary, tea tree, lavender and cedarwood essential oils

I really, really, really like this bar! It may be one of the best i have tried so far, here’s why, the lather is amazing. It’s extremely luxurious. It’s so much creamier and thicker than any other shampoo bar I’ve tried. I am not sure which ingredient makes it feel that way but it was noticiably different. It cleansed very well and was able to cut through oil easily meaning that after one lathering, my hair felt slick and didn’t have that coating of whatever product I had on my hair still. So this meant I don’t have to lather twice if I don’t want to. I typically do just out of habit but sometimes if I am pressed for time or feeling lazy, I will lather up only once.

My hair felt left soft and really moisturized, I could tell this soap is very nourishing, I am sure the jojoba and wheat germ oils played a but part of that. This soap also contains nettle infused coconut oil and nettle helps strengthen the hair and give it more vitality so I am loving that! Nettle in addition to the rosemary (hence the name of the soap), tea tree, lavender AND cedarwood essential oils are an amazing mix of oils for the scalp and can stimulate growth so I made sure to scrub a dub dub that lovely lather all up in my scalp :o) It actually made me happy to see this exact combination because use these EXACT oils in my homemade growth oil for my scalp. I have all the oils in my medicine cabinet as we speak. They work! :o)

And finally….the scent. I really love the scent of rosemary and this definitely has high notes of it. The cedarwood really compliments it as well. It definitely makes the shower an aromatic (<—–is that a word? lol). Your senses will be stimulated! I followed up this wash with my Aubrey Organics GPB Rosemary Peppermint conditioner for an extra “aromatic” experiences ;o)

Love this shampoo bar and am really excited for the others!!

Butter : : The Natural Root Gourmet Shea Butter Lemongrass Rosemary Sage

Butter : : The Natural Root Gourmet Shea Butter Lemongrass Rosemary Sage

Coming to you with a new little gem I’ve discovered :o) I was sent some goodies by the owner of this up and coming brand, The Natural Root, LLC and I wanted to share with you! I LOVE supporting small businesses in the Natural Hair world because they are 99% of time created by fellow curly girls and typically stemmed from a need they saw in their own personal lives. I am especially touched by The Natural Root because of the owners went natural when she lost all of her hair due to chemotherapy for breast cancer, a true testimony on how the Lord can create a blessing out of ANY situation no matter how grim it may look. The other owner of TNR even wrote a book about natural hair after she first decided to go natural due to the condition of her relaxed hair. I love hearing everyone’s unique stories of how they “came to Natural”, so inspiring and uplifting! :o)

So the first product from TNR I want to share is the Gourmet Shea Butter in Lemongrass, Rosemary & Sage. I received the 2.5 oz size which retails for $3.00 on their site. They also sell it in an 8 oz size for $10 as well as other variations which include Tea Tree/Peppermint/Cinnamon (I would LOVE to try this one eventually!), Black Butter Cookie and Plain.

This awesome formula will aid in the treatment of various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis and eczema. Hand whipped raw Shea Butter. Creamy and easy to apply.

(LSR) LEMONGRASS/ROSMARY/SAGE Promotes blood circulation which will aid in the growth or your hair. Rosemary oil slows down premature hair loss and graying of hair. Hence it is an excellent tonic for balding. Rosemary essential oil is also beneficial for dry and flaky scalps. Sage oil assists in improving acne, athlete’s foot and chapped skin, and relieving symptoms of eczema and psoriasis, it’s a natural gray reducer also. Also Available in: Tea Tree/Peppermint/Cinnamon, Black Butter and Plain

Raw Shea butter, Coconut Oil, Mango butter, Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil, Castor Oil

This butter is a so yummy! One of my newest fav thing is anything lemongrass (of course along with all things coconut and peppermint!), I also recently became obsessed with lemongrass tea too lol. THIS butter has the delicious aroma of lemongrass, it smells sooo good! It’s so unique because I seldom come across products with a high content, let alone the scent, of lemongrass! So definite points for the yummy scent :o) It also contains my beloved coconut oil so it helps strengthen my hair and penetrate the shaft. It also contains castor oil so this is great for your scalp as it also contains essential oils which help with growth stimulation (NOTE: the EO’s are not listed in the ingredients but it contains lemongrass, rosemary and sage EO’s)

The butter has a creamy, smooth whipped texture and is on the thicker side which I like. Looking at the butter literally makes me want to eat it lol I know that sounds weird but it just looks so daggone good lol almost like cookie dough (?? bad example maybe lol but I can only IMAGINE what their Black Butter kind smells like if it smells like cookies…..) What makes this butter even better, is that I am able to use it to seal my ends! I really love when I can use a product and not have to use another product to seal my ends, almost like it’s double duty :o) Don’t have keep reaching for different jars and getting oil/butter all over the containers lol (ya’ll know what I am talking about lol).

Of course I used this for my twist-out and loved the results! It gave me more of a fluffier twist out as it didn’t provide a tremendous amount of hold which is fine, I just re-twist my hair more often the week that I use it and make the twists tighter and smaller. It most definitely seals in moisture and makes my hair super soft, not to mention the yummy lemongrass scent lingers all week (nothing overbearing though!). Although its a thick butter, it does not weigh my hair hair and it not greasy at all! It truly does make me feel like I am applying something gourmet on my hair!

Check out the results below!

Growth : : Bee Mine Mango Serum with Sulfur

Growth : : Bee Mine Mango Serum with Sulfur

I have been DYING to try this!! I got this about a month ago with my other Bee Mine goodies that were sent to me but I had been waiting to finish my Viviscal trial before I started using this. You know how hard it is to see this bottle every day and not use it!? Lol well the day has finally come :o)

It’s the Bee Mine Mango Serum with Sulfur. It’s a 100% natural and organic hair growth serum and retails on the Bee Mine website for $16 for an 8 oz bottle. It comes in Mango scent and also in the original Strawberry Kiwi Scent. You can also buy this from CurlMart but only in the Strawberry Kiwi scent. Bee Mine ALSO has this serum in a No Sulfur formula (for those with allergies to sulfur or with relaxers or other chemical services) as well as an Oil-Free spray formula which I think I will add to my “Hair Growth To Try” list. Bee Mine has a growth serum for everyone! Bee Mine even has all of their products in trial sizes! I love how Tracey, the owner, keeps the customer needs in mind. So you can buy the smaller size, see if you like it (which you most likely will), then buy the larger size! :o)

The serum is actually their signature product, the owner Tracey, began losing her hair awhile back due to health complications so she created her own remedy. She started off making it for family and friends which turned it into a business! I need to ***SIDEBAR again to rant about Tracey lol. I can’t say anything but amazing things about her because she is a BEAUTIFUL spirit, the light in her shines BRIGHT! She is SO helpful, SO kind, just an amazing being (I can only imagine what she’s’ like in person!). That alone makes me want to support her and her business, the fact that her products are AMAZING makes it that much better. She is a living testimony that when God has his hand on your efforts, you will succeed. Just check out the reviews on her site, she has so many and they are all 4 star or above (ALL the serums have 5 stars!). I am just in awe by her!! :o)

Product Description
This is one of the Original Serums if you are not allergic to sulfur or have any health problems this would be the one for you.  How to use:  Please perform a patch test prior to full use. Shake bottle prior to each time. Apply sparingly to scalp only a little goes a long way. Massage thoroughly throughout your scalp concentrating on the areas that need it the most. You will need to use a moisturizer on your hair after each use to make sure during the process any Serum didn’t get on your hair.

If you are doing any chemical service to your hair such as a perm, relaxer or dye job please stop using the Serum 7 days before the chemical service and shampoo prior to the service and wait 7 days after the service and shampoo before you start using the Serum again. Enjoy and use consistently for healthier stronger hair.

100% Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Prunus amygdalus dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape Seed) Oil, Select Ayurvedic Herbs, Sulfur Powder, Essential Oils, Fragrance (Phthalates Free) & Vitamin E Tocopherol Oil.

The serum looks and feels like a regular oil (since it is oil based) and has a juicy mango fragrance added. I will admit that it does have a slight sulfur scent but you can’t smell it after you’ve had it in your hair for awhile. It is nothing intolerable or overbearing. It is meant to only be applied to the scalp and it’s also recommended that you moisturize the strands of your hair after because sulfur may be drying for some people but some even say the serum makes their new growth really soft and manageable! So i guess you will have to pay attention to how your hair responds best to it.

The bottle has a little flip nozzle at the top which makes it easy to apply somewhat, I still think I may pour it in a needle point applicator bottle to make it even easier and give me bit more precision. It is not a thick oil so a little goes A LONG way! I made a mistake my first use and went a bit over board and had an oily forehead, neck and ears lol!! definitely user error and I also forgot that your head warms up the oil which was why it traveled down from my scalp. I will now just use a few drops in each section lol Oh and I will be applying this 2-3 times a week—basically the same time I re-twist my hair up at night. You can use this daily but my scalp naturally gets oily and I have to wash my hair once a week.

I have never used a product with sulfur so I was really intrigued by it, especially since I have yet to see someone say it did not work for them (unless of course they were allergic to it which is why you should definitely do a patch test first!) and NO this is not the same sulfur in the Sulfur 8 hair grease from back in the day lol. The kind of sulfur in the Bee Mine Serum is great for hair growth because it enhances your natural growth when it is used in conjunction with a carrier oil, which in this case is the coconut oil, grapeseed and sweet almond oils. I believe this sulfur is methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) which is an organic sulfur that actually occurs naturally in the body! (who knew!) It helps grow bone, hair, nails, tissues with keratin base, so it makes sense that this would help grow hair!

I also REALLY love that this serum contains ayurvedic herbs and essential oils which have ALL helped contribute to hair growth for me already so I am hoping the sulfur gives my hair and even large boost!

So there you have it, my intro to the Bee Mine Hair Growth Serum! I will report back on my results in about a month and let you know how it works! In the mean time, go to Bee Mine’s online store and check out the reviews! If anyone wants to join in on this challenge me go for it and let me know! :o)

Conditioner : : Aubrey Organics GPB – Rosemary Peppermint

Conditioner : : Aubrey Organics GPB – Rosemary Peppermint

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a WONDERFUL holiday season! I know those of us who have been blessed with the opportunity to take vacation from work are using it to rest up for an awesome year ahead of us!

EXPECT BIG THINGS THIS YEAR!! GOD is working OVERTIME!! Please believe it!

Aaaaaamen! lol

Ok so next up…. the Aubrey Organics (AO) GPB Glycogen Protein Balancing Conditioner in Rosemary Peppermint! I got the 11 oz ON SALE! at Whole Foods for $7.62. It’s $10.93 on their website which is around the regular price in the stores. I was geeked when I saw the sale price tag! I absolutely LOVE the White Camellia Conditioner and was excited to try another kind from AO! I had seen the GPB conditioner in the store for awhile but nothing ever jumped out at me where I felt I needed to buy it right away. I think because I always did my own protein treatments, like the Cherry Lola, so I didn’t see a need to spend the money on this. BUT then I saw they made it in Peppermint Rosemary!! I was sold! lol yea, it was that easy hahaha. I think my 2nd fav thing next to coconut (in regards to hair) is anything with peppermint! I LOVE peppermint! I just bought some peppermint EO too…

If you can’t stand peppermint, they have two other variations of the GPB Conditioners (and shampoos!): Regular (which is actually their most popular product ever according to their website) and Lavender/Ylang-Ylang.

Product Description

For more than 40 years our customers have loved Aubrey’s #1-selling GPB Conditioner. Now our signature conditioner is available in an invigorating Rosemary Peppermint scent. This nutrient-rich, protein-based formula rehydrates and re-energizes your hair, while glycoproteins strengthen hair fiber and repair damage from salon treatments to restore softness, manageability and shine.

Milk Protein Rich in cysteine and methionine; strengthens and mends damaged areas. Organic Aloe Replenishes moisture. Glycoprotein & Horsetail Extract Balance & fortify hair & scalp

Aqua, cetyl alcohol (coconut fatty alcohol), alcohol denat. (38b, lavender*), aloe leaf juice*, wheat germ oil, milk protein, glycerin, peppermint oil*, rosemary leaf oil*, brassica campestris/aleurites fordi oil copolymer, grapefruit extract, soybean oil, glycoprotein, sage oil*, vitamin E, witch hazel water, horsetail extract, coltsfoot leaf extract, nettle extract, vitamin C, carrot root extract, beta-carotene. *organic

I think my favorite thing about AO products are their ingredients. They’re ALL natural, some even organic and the best ingredients are listed first meaning, there is a higher content of those ingredients….

Ok, I have a pet peeve, let me *sidebar* for a sec lol….it bothers me when companies advertise something with and ingredient like Argan Oil or Olive Oil but then list it as damn near the LAST ingredient. There’s probably one drop of olive oil in that thing! (Eco-Styler is notorious for this but I do love their gels and use them to this day lol I have the argan oil Eco-Styler but I definitely do NOT use it for the argan oil #JustSaying)

Any who, my point is, is that AO products have a higher content of the wholesome, goodness of amazing ingredients like the coconut, aloe, oils, proteins, etc. They aren’t the little things they add on at the end of the ingredients just so they can market their product a certain way.***steps down off soap box***

I knew my hair was in need for a protein boost after my banana hair mask the week before and I was so excited to try this out. I washed with Dr. Bronner’s Hemp Tea Tree Oil 18-in-1 Castile Soap (review on this coming soon!) and applied the conditioner to my roots and length of my hair. It said focus on the ends but I made sure I rubbed some on my scalp so I could get the peppermint tinglys hehe. I used my Hair Therapy Warp Thermal Turban and left it on for about 45 mins and rinsed out.

This conditioner has the signature peppermint scent that I love, it doesn’t have as much slip as the White Camellia version I also have but that’s ok. It still applied somewhat well. I did feel like I needed to put a little bit more on the really cover all of my hair and scalp. But since I would only use this 1-2x a month, it should last me a few months. This isn’t one of those every day conditioners (to me), I use it more of a treatment.

I got awweesome results! My hair is sooooo soft, springy, manageable, fortified, strong, etc. etc. etc. I love it! Love love love it! Aubrey Organics has some amazing products, definitely put them on your “To Try” list :o)

— P.S. I know I haven’t posted many pics of my hair but I feel like when I post pics of it’s wet (after conditioners), they all the look the same lol so it seems kinda useless…. wish pictures could let you see what it feels like haha. But I will be sure to post pics when I use a styling products!

Product : : Henna Sooq Soapnut Shampoo Bar

Product : : Henna Sooq Soapnut Shampoo Bar

Ahhh…..wash days got even better lol. We all know wash days can be a looooong, tedious process BUT incorporating shampoo bars into my weekly regimen has made wash days actually fun and something I look forward too lol ok maybe I’m just weird but I love washing my hair with shampoo bars! The process, the different kinds of soaps, the suds, I dunno, it’s just fun to me lol I wish I could wash my hair more often just so I can use the bars more haha

So my latest bar I went ahead and indulged in is from my beloved folks over at Henna Sooq. I bought the full sized (4.25 oz) Soapnut Shampoo Bar for $7 and it is by far my fav shampoo bar to date! Check this post and this post for other bars I have tried recently.

First of all, the bar looks like a giant cookies and cream bar lol and smells like yummy peppermint! In addition to my love of coconut, I reeeeeeallly love anything with peppermint. I don’t know why I don’t have more products with peppermint in it :o( The peppermint does wonders for the scalp and leaves that signature clean, tingly feeling. Nice and cool and soothing. That was actually the main reason why I bought this bar hehe

Product Description

  • pH balanced
  • No SLS or foam booster
  • No preservatives
  • No detergents
  • No petroleum based oils
  • No residue
  • Ideal for all hair types

Organic high oleic sunflower oil, castor oil, unrefined shea butter, rice bran oil, sapindus murkorossi (aritha/soapnut), rosemary and peppermint essential oils

This particular shampoo bar cleanses REALLY well because of the soapnut which is also known as aritha or reetha, which is most often used in ayurvedic regimens. It’s a natural deep cleanser and helps balance the oil level in your hair. My thing is making sure my scalp is squeaky clean so the soapnut mixed with the peppermint EO works wonders on my scalp. My hair is soft, never dried out and my scalp is happy. It’s definitely a cleanser I could use weekly because it is not stripping and contains castor oil. So really, I am not losing any oils in my hair, rather replenishing and balancing it with clean oils. I also looooove that is contains rosemary EO because that is another phenomenal ingredient for a healthy scalp. It helps with hair growth (check out this post on Essential Oils for more info on my love for EO’s).

Another reason I really love this particular bar is because it is not the usual dark brown (due to the color of whatever ingredients are in the bar) so it rinses out clearer a lot faster than other bars. This means less time in the shower which is always good.

This bar is literally the PERFECT blend of ingredients. I am in LOVE!! Henna Sooq does it yet again! Oh and I also bought the Sweet Honey bar from Henna Sooq so I will review that one when I give it a whirl :o)

— Although I am forever a Henna Sooq and Bobeam fan, I want to start trying other shampoo bars so if you know of any other companies that have really good bars, leave a comment and let me know! I think I am going to try Chagrin Valley bars next! Which one should I try??
