Conditioner : : Nature’s Gate Biotin Conditioner

Hello :o) I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday!

So, every natural chica knows that conditioner is ESSENTIAL to our regimen and keeps it manageable. We also know that it’s the first thing to run out of since we use so much, so often lol Because of this, I like to keep some inexpensive, really good, don’t have to buy online, conditioners on hand at all times. I have two brands that I always stick with and can always count on—Trader Joe’s conditioners and Nature’s Gate conditioners ( I reviewed the Hemp Conditioner last year in case you missed it!).

I LOVE Nature’s Gate conditioners! I don’t know why I don’t hear about them more in the natural hair world, oh well all I know is they are my go to cheapie conditioners! I saw them one day in Whole Foods and I was shocked at the price and how natural the ingredients were! PLUS the huge 18 oz bottle. I later found them sold on my fav site VitaCost.com, so I also have used the henna and aloe vera (( the henna was eh ok, probably won’t buy that again, I loved the aloe vera and it smells amazing! Definitely will rotate that one )) but this review is going to focus on the Biotin ConditionerI bought my current bottle from off Vitacost for $4.49 for 18oz. Can’t beat that!

I love Nature’s Gate conditioners because they have SO much slip and have great consistency/thickness! I always use them, even if I’m going to use another conditioner, because they help soften my hair after washing and keeps my hair lubricated throughout the wash/condition process. It definitely helps seal the hair cuticle since shampoo bars can really open the cuticle ((you know that rubbery waxy feeling you sometimes get after washing)). I also love using this conditioner as a co-wash and after I do ayurvedic treatments since it helps “wash” away any loose particles from the pastes without having to apply shampoo again.

This conditioner contains biotin, which helps strengthen your hair, and I can say that I have noticed a difference after I use it. I feel like it fortifies my hair after each use but I don’t use it consistently enough to say if it really thickens my hair (plus I like to rotate products).

One random thing about it is is has a pepperminty scent to it and even a bit of that cool tingle BUT there is no peppermint in it!! lol I have no clue which ingredient(s) make it do that but it trips me out haha oh well. Still a fav!

If you aren’t up on Nature’s Gate well….you know what to do! :o)

Product : : Nature’s Gate Hemp Nourishing Conditioner

Product : : Nature’s Gate Hemp Nourishing Conditioner

Ok I’m back with another product review! I’ll be honest (I feel like I always say that lol) but seriously, I haven’t bought any new products in months! That’s why I haven’t done any reviews! I am on a mission to use up the many products I already have (get my moneys worth dangit!) and THEN I can invest in some new goodies! So that will mean many more reviews in the New Year (hopefully!). Oh and I am taking suggestions on some new, great products to try! let me know if there’s any great products I may have missed out there! I prefer to use all-natural, organic products (without the silicones, parabens and sulfates, etc. etc.)

Any who, as conditioners are ESSENTIAL to any natural’s hair product arsenal, I am always scouting to find great conditioners. A few weeks ago I was in Whole Foods and since I am pretty much broke and on a serious budget, I was hoping I could find a cheap conditioner that had a lot of product in it lol and to my luck….I found one!

It’s the Nature’s Gate Hemp Nourishing Conditioner. I got 18 oz for like $6 (I threw away the receipt so I can’t remember the exact amount). But it was cheap for a good amount of product. I go through conditioner like no other so this was a great deal for me!

I saw that you can buy this line of products many places online so if you don’t live near a Whole Foods no worries. Drugstore.com has a great selection. There are several variations of Nature’s Gate conditioners so I was staring at all of them for like 10 mins trying to decide which one to try lol I ended up settling on the Hemp Nourishing kind because it said it smooths Dry, Frizzy hair. I definitely plan to give them all a try eventually! Might try the Tea Tree one next, I just love anything that makes my scalp tingly lol

Check out some of the variations they have (you can view on their website):

  • Herbal for all hair types
  • Biotin — strengthens weak hair
  • Tea Tree — calming for irritated, flaky scalp
  • Jojoba — revitalizes damaged hair
  • Aloe Vera — moisturizes dry hair
  • Awapuhi — promotes volume and fullness
  • Henna — adds shine
  • Pomegranate sunflower — for color treated hair

I really like this stuff! I was kinda nervous because it was so cheap (NOT that cheap is bad, it just sometimes lacks in quality) but the ingredients are all great and don’t contain all those crazy synthetic ingredients. It had a great amount of slip when I used it generously. I really love having a conditioner where you can squeeze a whole bunch out and not have to worry about using it up too fast. This definitely delivered because it was easy to distribute through my hair thoroughly.

The hemp conditioner has a light, clean scent. Nothing overbearing, sweet or fruity. Kind of earthy/herbal, you know, that “Whole Foods” scent lol It’s got a nice creamy texture, kind of reminds me of a thicker version of Kinky Curly Knot Today.

I use this after I wash with shampoo bars and also after ayurvedic treatments and it really made my hair soft and easy to detangle. I always stress how important it is to find a great conditioner to use after shampoo bars and ayurvedic treatments since your hair cuticle is open and you want something that will smooth them down. I am assuming it did a good job at smoothing the cuticle since it says it specifically smooths dry, frizzy hair. I definitely want to try another variations of this brand to see how well the other kinds work in my hair. I have heard some people say they have tried different variations and gotten different results from each one. We’ll see hehe….

Oh, and I discovered a cool thing when I use this conditioner after I rinsed out my ayurvedic paste! Sometimes the pastes don’t rinse clean very well so I always make sure I condition and rinse well again after I initially rinse out the paste. The cool thing I discovered is when I apply this conditioner, I rub it into my scalp like shampoo and it starts to lather! (Yes, that excites me lol) I really like that because it helps gets that last bit of residue from the paste out. Basically my hair rinses super clean afterwards. None of my other conditioners do that! So this may be a good co-wash (although I don’t co-wash but for those of you who do…)

This is definitely a keeper and I am excited to try more products from this brand! The price makes it that much more worth it. I am not big on the liquid shampoos so I don’t care much to try those but there is a matching shampoo to all their conditioners! yayy!

— Have you tried any products from this brand?!
