Moisture : : Bee Mine Juicy Moisturizing Daily Spritz

Hello beautiful :o)

So this is a product I have had for quite some time now, just haven’t had a chance to review it ((sowwy!)). My bottle is actually almost gone too lol Time to re-up! It’s from, you guessed it…Bee Mine!! My fav brand of course :o)

It is the lovely  Bee Mine Juicy Moisturizing Daily Spritz which is yet ANOTHER 5 star reviewed product. I am telling you, there is almost perfection in everything Bee Mine is! It STILL amazes me! It’s like when something is too good to be true but it really is true lol Any who, the Juicy Moisturizing Daily Spritz retails for 8oz. for $12.97 and comes in Bee Mine’s signature Island Mango Scent.

Product Description
Bee Mine Juicy – Moisturizing Daily Spritz is an excellent moisturizer for natural & relaxed hair.  It is loaded with organic aloe vera juice, ayurvedic herbs and nourishing essential oils to stimulate the scalp and strengthen your tresses.  Use daily as a mid day refresher bedtime moisturizing treatment.

Ingredients
Organic Aloe Vera Juice, Herbal Infused Purified Water, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Pure Glycerin, Ayurvedic Herbs, Select Herbs, Polysorbate 20, Essential oils of Tea Tree, Peppermint & Grapefruit, Vitamin E Tocopherol Oil, Fragrance,  Paraben & Formaldehyde Free Preservative.
Silicone-free / SLS-free / Paraben-free

As you may know by now,  ALL of Bee Mine’s products are 99% Natural AND Organic. This truly sets Bee Mine apart from any other natural hair brand out there. An ENTIRE product line, not just a couple products, that is 99% Natural and Organic. This is probably the #1 reason why Bee Mine is so effective and consistent. So I say that to bring your attention to the juicy ingredients! ALL of these power packed ingredients perfectly mixed together in a spray bottle. ((I know I always sound like a Bee Mine salesperson but I just can’t help it lol I have NO affiliation with the company and I do NOT get paid to say the things I say! I am just honest! :o)))

The first ingredient is Aloe vera juice which immediately had me sold. My hair loves anything to do with aloe vera and then herbal infused purified water is next. I don’t know which herbs it’s infused with but I am certain that they are all amazingly beneficial to our hair of course :o). I do know it has ayurvedic herbs as well, probably amla, brahmi, neem or henna even since those herbs appear in other Bee Mine products. It’s got my beloved coconut oil, vitamin E, and essential oils and glycerin to really moisturize  your hair. Remember, both aloe vera and glycerin are humectants so they will pull moisture into your hair and since this spritz contains water (moisture), it REALLY locks it in! THEN the oils SEAL the moisture in. It’s like this spray is the perfect balance of chemistry to truly moisturize your hair and notice a difference.

I use this spray whenever I re-twist my hair during the week. I usually don’ re-apply any product (unless I just really need to), just spray each section with the Juicy spritz and then re-twist (adding a lil butter to my ends to make sure they are sealed and protected). This spritz is also really good for your scalp as well! It is comparable to the Bee Mine Bee Sensitive Serum but without the sulfur so sometimes I will use this in place of the serum if I am feeling lazy lol. I have also used this when I wear a wash-n-go to help revive my curls and give an extra boost of moisture when needed.

I definitely notice a difference in the moisture level of my hair since I introduced this to my hair arsenal. It’s one of those products that the more you use it, the LESS you need because it really balances my hair and makes it “normal” if that makes sense. I have tried several moisture sprays and even make my own occasionally but this will be something I always keep stocked :o)

— Have you guys tried anything from Bee Mine since you’ve heard me obsess over them!? lol just curious :o)

Moisture : : Adé Vegan Hair Essentials Cucumber Aloe Moisture Mist

Moisture : : Adé Vegan Hair Essentials Cucumber Aloe Moisture Mist

Happy Sunday! ….as happy as it can be since that means tomorrow is the dreaded Monday…I wish Mondays could just be skipped over. Oh well…..

The other day I introduced another natural hair care line that I am quickly falling in love with (<—YES I know, I am a sucker for yummy, all natural, handmade products hehe), it’s called Adé Vegan Hair Essentials and all their products can be found on their Etsy Shop. I reviewed the Rosehip Strand Essence and also featured the owner, Tonya, as my most recent Company Behind the Curl but today, this post is devoted to the Cucumber Aloe Moisture Mist. It’s a juicy moisturizing spray that retails for $15 for 4 oz. and it comes in a blue plastic spray bottle.

I am a sucker for a good hair mist!! Mists and spritzers are probably my most frequently used product because I apply moisture to my hair every time I re-twist (about 2-3x a week) so I am always excited to add new mixes to my rotation. Yes, Adé’s price point seem a bit on the higher end but remember, it is a new company and best of, ALL their products are handmade, the purest ALL natural ingredients AND entirely vegan! You are paying for quality which is most important. You will definitely notice the difference.ade_vegan_cucumber_aloe_moisture_mist_lacocobella

 Ingredients
Distilled water infused with hibiscus flower, aloe vera juice, vegetable glycerin, nettle leaf extract, cucumber botanical extract, grapefruit seed extract, citric acid, essentials oils of lavender, and ylang ylang *Extracts settle at the bottom of the bottle so please shake well before each use for the best results. <3 All products are handmade by me with love <3 No chemical preservatives, No synthetic fragrance, No animal ingredients, No synthetic color, No mineral oil, No sulfates

Product Description
This herbal spray moisturizes the hair with a revitalizing botanical complex that penetrates the hair shaft to restore shine and manageability. Aloe Vera Juice – According to University of Hawaii researchers, we can trace the use of Aloe Vera for hair loss back to the ancient Egyptians. In fact, Aloe Vera contains enzymes that directly promote healthy hair growth. These enzymes are able to help eradicate dead skin cells on the scalp that could be clogging the hair follicle, as this can restrict proper penetration of nutrients in the hair. Conditions like seborrhea, which occurs from an accumulation of sebum on the scalp, can contribute to partial baldness. Aloe Vera’s keratolic action, breaks down the sebum and dead scalp cells, allowing for further hair growth. Also, Aloe Vera’s alkalizing properties can help bring the scalp and hair’s pH to a more desirable level, resulting in further hair growth promotion, while helping the hair retain water and moisture.

Gosh, I can’t get over the things that are in Adé products! The hibiscus and cucumber extract are what excites me the most lol I rarely ever see those ingredients in any products. Hibiscus always reminds me of my trips to Hawaii and my old home in California, my mother planted a few in our back yard :o) I have been drinking lots of cucumber lemon water this summer so I am definitely partial to these two ingredients lately lol And then there’s the aloe vera, my hair loves anything with aloe so this is an amazing combination!

As with all Adé products, you can find a break down of the benefits of the key ingredients on the Etsy site. I copied and pasted them below….THANK YOU Adé for doing that because it makes writing these blog posts that much easier!!! lol

  • Hibiscus Flower – In the Indian traditional system of medicine, Ayurveda, hibiscus is considered to have medicinal properties. The roots are used to make various concoctions believed to cure ailments such as cough, hair loss or hair greying.
  • Cucumber Botanical Extract – cucumbers contain high amounts of potassium, folic acid and silica. These compounds are well-known in the beauty industry to rejuvenate the skin and facial appearance. The silicon, sulfur, and trace elements found in cucumbers are known to beautify hair and nails.
  • Nettle Leaf Extract – is widely known herb for its astringent, anti-allergenic, tonic, antiseptic and blood purifying properties. It is recognized as an excellent hair conditioner as it is rich in minerals and enzymes and is used traditionally as a hair tonic, to strengthen hair shaft, stimulate hair growth, prevent its loss, increase its density and volume.
  • Essential oils of, Lavender, and ylang ylang are used to help control scalp itching, flaking and to promote growth.

So I use this lovely mist when I am re-moisturizing my hair during the week when I wear twist-outs. It does an amazing job of really infusing the moisture right in my strands (and I of course seal it with coconut oil or a little bit of whatever butter/styling product I use that week). The aloe helps keep that moisture in because its a humectant and it makes my hair really shiny and bright when it dries!

When I use this, I also make an effort to ensure I spray my scalp too because pretty much all of the ingredients benefit the scalp as well (growth and health). I had no idea that cucumber contains silicon and sulfur which I learned is great for hair growth when I introduce the Bee Mine Sulfur Hair Growth Serum awhile back. You know I LOVE when products have nettle and you can see why HERE. Another benefit I have found with this mist when I use it on my scalp is it helps keep build-up at a minimum because the aloe and nettle both have astringent properties so it sort of “cleans” your scalp.

Overall, I LOVE this mist!! I wish it came in a larger size because I go through sprays so quickly!! Adding to my essentials! ;o)

Tip Tuesday : : Summer Natural Hair Care Tips

Tip Tuesday : : Summer Natural Hair Care Tips

summer_haircare-01

Summa summa summa tiiiiiiime!! Well…almost summa time lol

The weather has definitely changed (FINALLY) and temperature’s rising which means we’ll be hitting the pools, beaches, vacationing and spending more time out doors **SIDEBAR-unless you are like me and TERRIFIED of these damn 17-year cicadas that are supposed to be out on the east coast soon. I WILL be indoors until they are gone…lol) If you live on the west coast, you really don’t understand what its like to “have seasons” like us East coasters lol and why its such a huge deal when winter is over! oh how I miss Cali…sunshine and warm weather ALL year round….ima be back there soon though! #GodWilling

Any who, a few readers reminded me that I need to make a post about summer hair care tips (duh!) because different temperatures and climates definitely call for different hair care needs. Check out some summer hair care tips below! If you have some other tips, leave them in the comment box!

Oh and one thing I want to highlight, knowing your hair’s porosity is HUGE in warm weather. Check out this post and do some Googling for more info on that. Knowing your hair’s porosity will help determine what products and hair practices work best for you.

Dry Climates

  1. Ditch Products with Drying Ingredients i.e. alcohols (the bad ones), heavy fragrances – It’s already a challenge to keep your hair moisturized in dry climates so don’t make it harder for yourself! :o)
  2. Seal Your Hair!– I know you’ve seen me mention this a billion times because it is so essential! Always apply a heavy butter like shea or mango or an oil like coconut, olive, jojoba or sweet almond to help seal in the moisture. This is ESSENTIAL if you have highly porous hair because dry climates will suck out all the moisture of your hair (stay away from humectants as well!)
  3. Try the Green House Effect! — Check out this post to see what this moisture “treatment” is! You can also try the baggy method which is similar to the GHE but not quite. The baggy method is where you apply a conditioner or moisturizer on your hair AFTER you’ve washed and conditioned (GHE uses oils). You put a plastic cap on your hair and leave it on for however long you wish (I do it for up to an hour or so).
  4. Co-Wash more often! — Using regular shampoo may actually dry out your hair so try washing with conditioner instead. This way, you will retain moisture and natural oils while still cleansing your hair and scalp of sweat and build-up (the key is your SCALP!). If you feel like co-washing doesn’t clean your hair well enough, try washing with a moisturizing shampoo bar like any of these a couple times a month. Always follow with a good conditioner!
  5. Do Steam Treatments! — Again, the key is to keep your hair moisturized and steam treatments are a GREAT way to do this!

Humid Climates

  1. Embrace the humidity! — Humidity can be a blessing or a curse….I see it as a blessing in the summer! Humidity means BIG hair which I love! Also, it helps moisturize your hair. If you don’t like humidity, then stay away from products that contain humectants (i.e. glycerin, aloe vera, honey) because it will attract MORE moisture to your hair and make your hair even bigger. BUT if you don’t care, then humidity is actually great for humectants….moisture! For those with highly porous hair, you will probably experience more frizz so keep that in mind.
  2. Wear more Wash-n-Go’s — Besides the fact that your hair will dry faster, it’s another opportunity for your hair to lock in the moisture!

ALL Climates

  1. Drink LOTS of water! –– This is a given. It’s hot, you sweat, you lose water so you want to make sure you rehydrate and replenish by drinking more! Water is essential for your body AND hair inside and out! My fav ways to get my daily doses are drinking coconut water or putting sliced cucumbers and lemons in iced water! Sooo refreshing and yummy!
  2. Oil or condition your hair BEFORE you go swimming! –– I know this seems messy and sort of counter intuitive but doing this will coat your hair and act a shield against chlorine and salt water (remember water and oil don’t mix! Same concept with sealing your hair…) Conditioners help because it helps fill in the gaps in the hair shaft (especially protein conditioners) and will help reduce dryness and breakage. This is especially important if you have color in your hair! You can also invest in a cute swimming cap like these or these :o)
  3. Don’t forget the Suncreen… for your hair! — Believe it or not, you need to protect your hair as much as you should your skin! There are a lot of natural oils and butters that are natural UV protectors! Mango butter is especially my favorite but you can also use sesame oil, macadamia nut oil, shea butter, cupuacu butter to name a few. You can also look for products that are labeled as heat protectants or UV protectants.
  4. Use a Moisturizing Shampoo — Hopefully you already are doing this :o) But if you haven’t yet, try using a shampoo bar. You know I am a HUGE advocate of them. Also, you may need to change the frequency of how often you wash. I find that I tend to wash more frequently in the summer because my scalp sweats and becomes oily faster and some people swim more often which leads to my next tip…
  5. Clarify Your Hair — If you swim in chlorine or salt water you will want to make sure you clarify your hair. Rinsing your hair with plain water will not get rid of chlorine and salt. Most shampoos will get most of it out but it is still a good idea to thoroughly clarify at least once a month to sort of “re-set” your hair. It is also good to clarify if you sweat a lot or have an oily scalp. You can clarify with apple cider vinegar, bentonite clay, castile soap, black soap to name a few. There are lots of products marketed as clarifying so just check the labels! Oh and of course, most shampoo bars contain clarifying ingredients (another reason why they are damn near perfect hehe)
  6. Use products with Proteins — Proteins will help patch up the hair shaft which means if you have highly porous hair, it will help keep moisture retained longer which is good in Dry climates. If you live in humid climates, this will help keep frizz down to a minimum! You can also try protein treatments like the Cherry Lola or make your own concoction using yogurt, eggs, beer, etc.
  7. Deep Condition more often — For obvious reasons, it will help restore any damage from the sun and heat, and it will also help retain moisture in your hair! This is great opportunity to use a conditioner that contains proteins (I LOVE Aubrey Organics GPB Conditioner) and to also do the baggy method which I mentioned above. The key is to allow the conditioner time to penetrate DEEP into your hair shaft.
  8. Wear braids or twists! — Back in the day my signature summer style was corn rows. It’s so easy to maintain, your hair is protected and it keeps your head cool. Try rocking some cute braids, corn rows or twists this summer and you really won’t have to worry much about anything accept keeping your own hair moist using a spray or oil! Plus it makes vacationing so much easier and you don’t have to bring a bunch of products with you :o)

and if all else fails… you can always wear a cute hat, scarf or turban wrap! :o)

Hope this helps and gets you ready for the summa, summa, summa time!!

Hair Milk : : Bee Mine Deja’s Hair Milk

Hair Milk : : Bee Mine Deja’s Hair Milk

Hey chicas!! I hope everyone had a blessed Resurrection Sunday and got to enjoy the day with their families! This resurrection this year really symbolizes a true New beginning, like a changing of the guards, I feel like there’s a LOT of activity in the spiritual realm going on and it’s like a build up of anticipation! Ah can’t wait for what’s in store!! :o)

Also, I feel like I am always apologizing for something lol but on Monday I suddenly came down with something, a cold/virus (going to the Dr.’s today), and still feel like crap so I haven’t been on my computer much, PLUS I still have been working on a TON of freelance graphic design jobs (thanks for all the new inquires I have gotten from my readers!!) ….oh and fitting in a full time job in between all that as well lol sooo again, SORRY for the lack of posts :o(

*******

So I have indulged in more products from my favorite brand, Bee Mine hehe. I really am addicted lol and this stuff really IS that good!! I have a bunch of other Bee Mine products just waiting to be used….yes, I know, it’s a problem, I didn’t mean it lightly when I said I LOVE Bee Mine lol #DontJudgeMe :o)

So here’s the Deja’s Hair Milk, which retails for $15 for 8 oz, $27 for 16 oz or the trial size of 2.2 oz for $5.50. Again, yes I know Bee Mine is in the higher price point category (along with Karen’s Body Beautiful, my other FAV brand) BUT you pay for what you get! AND Bee Mine boasts that their products are All Natural AND Organic! Most brands can’t claim that they are BOTH natural and organic, so you know you are getting the best you can possibly get for the health of your hair. It’s worth it, if you don’t believe me, read the reviews on their site for yourself! 5 star ratings for damn near every product! I’m so mad I never knew about Bee Mine until last year! #GoFigure

So I have the 8 oz Hair Milk in the Coconut Cream scent which is the same scent as the Bee-U-Ti-Ful Deep Conditioner. It smells soooooo lusciously yummy! Mmm mmmm mmm I love coconut so it’s so fitting lol If you aren’t a coconut fan, the Hair Milk also comes in an Island Mango scent and they also have a limited edition Sweetie Peach scent. I bet that one smells really yummy too!

bee_mine_dejas_hair_milk_lacocobella

Product Description
This hair milk has many benefits for the health and condition of your hair. It’s lightweight but very moisturizing. The oils and butters will nourish and naturally moisturize every strand of your tresses without leaving your hair greasy. The grapefruit essential oil strengthens and keeps your hair healthy while the peppermint essential oil helps to stimulate growth. Good for all hair types, braids and weaves too. We aim to help your hair be the healthiest it can be.
Use Deja’s Hair Milk to: defrizz, moisturize on damp hair, as a second day refresher, detangler or leave in.

Ingredients
Distilled water, Coconut milk, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil), Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Seed Oil), Butyrosperumum Parkir (Shea Butter), Emulsifying wax, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Butter), Vitis vinifera (Grapeseed Oil), Ricinus communis (Organic Castor Oil), Grapefruit & Peppermint Essential Oils, Vitamin E, Panthenol (Vitamin B Complex), Optiphen (Paraben free and Formaldehyde free preservative), Fragrance. 99% Natural & Organic. Silicone-free / SLS-free / Paraben-free

So I haven’t really one to use Hair Milks, no particular reason, just never moved me. BUT when I saw Deja’s Hair Milk, and read the ingredients, my mind immediately thought Sweet Ambrosia! lol so I definitely had to try it. Plus everything from Bee Mine I’ve tried so far has never let me down :o) DHM has a super creamy, milky consistency and applies wet because it is water based which also means a longer drying time in comparison to a butter product. It is a bit thicker in consistency than the Sweet Ambrosia but doesn’t provide as much hold which is fine. It’s super lightweight, no where near greasy which means touchable hair :o)

The first time I used it, I used it by itself as I always do to see how my hair interacts with products with no other “product influences”. I applied on wet hair and it distributed really well, it also helped with the finger detangling process as I smoothed it through my strands. Did I mention the scent?! OMG Bee Mine’s signature Coconut Cream scent is sooooo yummy, I can’t get over it lol any who, so Deja’s Hair Milk does an AMAZING job at moisturizing my hair, so much to the point where I prefer to wear this under a thicker butter. I realize this because this product alone doesn’t give me much hold and I can just tell how my hair feels when its moisturized, it’s like my hair is more “plump” for lack of a better word lol it has a certain glimmer to it and is more elastic. So using a butter along with DHM helps seal in that moisture and give me more hold. The fact that DHM is lightweight is wonderful so using it under a butter won’t add to a lot of product build-up.

A little definitely goes a long way! DHM is great for when I am re-twisting my hair during the week because I don’t need to spritz my hair with water because the DHM does such a great job at moisturizing. I love that because it’s one less step and one less bottle I have to reach for when it’s time to do my hair (saves time!). DHM contains coconut milk AND coconut oil which is probably why I noticed my hair felt really elastic, over time, this means less breakage!

I’m excited to use this in conjunction with some of my other fav products, I feel like this will really help strengthen my hair so I eventually go Beyonce blonde lol!! :oP

Here’s my hair on the first day, freshly untwisted and the last two pics are on the 2nd day. By the next day, my hair was a bit on the poofy side, which is why DHM wouldn’t work as a styler product for me, I need to use this as a moisturizer in conjunction with a heavier butter to get the hold I prefer. It does make my hair super soft and super shiny!

Cream : : Karen’s Body Beautiful Super Duper Hydrating Hair Cream

Cream : : Karen’s Body Beautiful Super Duper Hydrating Hair Cream

Hey!! I hope you guys have entered the giveaway  Check out my post celebrating my one year blog anniversary from the other day :o)

I’m back with another produce experience from my Karen’s Body Beautiful gift box I received awhile back! This is another product I have never tried from KBB and it’s the Super Duper Hydrating Hair Cream. It’s exactly what the title says it is, it is simply a cream that hydrates your hair! It retails for 6.7 oz for $16 on KBB’s website (yes, you can select your fav scent!) and also for the same price on CurlMart in the lavender vanilla scent. Mine is the vanilla latte scent which is alright, not my fav, but it smells pretty and sweet :o)

karens_body_beautiful_super_duper_hydrating_hair_cream karens_body_beautiful_super_duper_hydrating_hair_cream2

Description
Karen’s Body Beautiful Super Duper Hydrating Hair Cream is an intensely hydrating hair cream and dressing that also moisturizes and nourishes the scalp. Filled with Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Gel, Argan Oil and Acai Powder. Use twice a week on hair and scalp or as needed. Work best on dry or slightly damp hair

Ingredients
Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Gel, Argan Oil, Allantoin, Lecithin, Potassium Sorbate, Acai powder, Vegetable Wax, Vegetable Glycerin, Essential and/or Fragrance Oils & Vitamin E. Glycerin Free.  Protein Free. Silicone Free. Sulfate Free

This cream is actually rather thick, almost like a butter (it doesn’t contain water but is no where near as solid as the Butter Love) but it definitely has a creamy, almost whipped, kind of texture and is very emollient. It applies smooth and absorbs quickly and isn’t greasy. I was very attracted to it because of the aloe vera gel which always makes my hair really shiny! (remember the Bee Mine Bee Holed Curly Butter?!)

My first instinct when trying out new hair products that are creams or butters is to use them for twist-outs, I say that because I don’t think this is the best product for twist-outs. I guess I could have figured that out by actually following what the product description says lol BUT of course, I used it for a twist-out anyway :o)

So, I always start my fresh twist-outs on damp hair but it was kind of a challenge with this cream because on the KBB site, it says the cream works best on dry or slightly damp hair and KBB is obviously right. It didn’t apply well on wet hair, it was like the cream disappeared as soon as I applied it so I felt like I had to keep putting more and more on. I realized it’s better on dryer hair when I reached the parts of my hair that were not as damp. Since the cream contains a high content of aloe vera (a humectant), I wanted my hair to be somewhat damp just so the aloe could pull the moisture in my hair.

The results of my twist-out were ok (nothing like my beloved KBB Sweet Ambrosia!!!), it did not provide much hold because I had to re-twist my hair each night that week. BUT It did in fact do what it is supposed to do—moisturize my hair! The aloe vera and shea butter helped seal in the moisture and made my hair super shiny! The argan oil could also contribute to the shininess as well. For those with high porosity hair, this contains BOTH aloe vera and glycerin, both of which are humectants.

But on the flip side, I feel like I just didn’t use this product for it’s intended purpose. I can say that it is GREAT if your hair is feeling dry to the touch and you need a quick moisture boost throughout the week. If you need to refresh a wash-n-go, warm this up in your hands and smooth it all over your hair. I also used this to moisturize my hair under my EcoStyler gel that I used when I did a puff that week, since EcoStyler can be somewhat drying to me if I use it too much. I alternate it with my KBB Hold It Hair Gel :o)

Another use I plan to use this is on my scalp because of the wonderful aloe vera which is actually really, really good for your scalp and hair loss. ***NOTE: I have not yet used this on my scalp because I am currently using my Bee Mine Growth Serum on my scalp and I don’t want anything to interfere with the one month results of that :o)

So check out the results of my twist-out. Again, I wasn’t really able to get more than 1 day hair from using this but then again, its not intended to be used as a styler. By the end of the day my hair was poofy but it was moisturized, soft and shiny! lol

Coming to you with another product experience with the aboslute wonderful product line from Karen’s Body Beautiful. Yup, this one is in Target stores too! All the products from the gift box I received from KBB will be sold in Target! In case you missed the ones I’ve reviewed so far, check them out here: Sweet Ambrosia, Butter Love, Hold It Gel w/Argan Oil.

KBB finally posted a list of Target stores that will carry these on their Facebook Page. I also noticed the release date is now March 18, not February as I mentioned in previous posts. Oh well, it’s definitely worth the wait!

***SIDEBAR — I also just saw as I am typing this (it’s Friday, Feb 15) that KBB, for a limited time, brought back some of the retired scents that I used to love back in the day!!! (coco lime, coconut fig and luscious pear are TO DIE for!) I wonder if she saw my plea to bring them back lol. Sadly, I won’t be buying any this time :o( since I need to use up what I have first. HOPEFULLY, she will run this special again!! ***wink** :o)

Ok so let me tell you about the Hair Blossom Moisture Mist. It retails on the KBB site for $16 for 7.1 oz of product and the same on CurlMart. Mine is the juicy smelling Pomegranate Guava.

Product Description
Karen’s Body Beautiful Hair Blossom Moisture Mist contains nourishing oils and extracts to moisturize your hair as it refreshes curls.

Product Description
Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Gel, Water (Aqua), Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Persea gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Panthenol, Prunus amygdalus dulcis (Amica) Extract, Calendula officinalis (Calendula) Extract, Echinacea angustifolia (Echinacea) Extract, Urtica dioica (Nettle) Extract, Equisetum (Horsetail) Extract, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Argania spinosa (Argan) Oil, Limnanthes alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Helianthus annus (Sunflower) Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Oil, Fragrance (Parfum), Potassium Sorbate, and Vitamin E (Tocopherol).

karens_body_beautiful_hair_blossom_moisture_mist

This mist spray is PERFECT for when you are twisting or re-twisting your hair. I use this to dampen and moisturize my hair before I twist it back up for the night. It’s got an amazing mixture of oils and extracts along with my beloved aloe vera and since its water-based, this will definitely moisturize your hair which is why I love to use it before I do my twists because the shea/oil based products I use seal in the moisture from the Hair Blossom Mist. So in essence, this is an alternative to my usual spritzer mixes. Besides it providing moisture, it also helps soften my hair which I find helps my twist-outs become more defined the next day. This contains glycerin and aloe which are both humectants. If you wear your hair in a wash-n-go style, this is a great way to refresh your curls and provide some moisture.

I have two more products from KBB to share with you guys so keep checking back! Byeeee for now!

Deep Conditioner :: Bee Mine Bee-U-Ti-Ful Moisturizing Deep Conditioner

Deep Conditioner :: Bee Mine Bee-U-Ti-Ful Moisturizing Deep Conditioner

I finally found a non-homemade deep conditioner! lol

I have gotten so many questions about if I know of any good deep conditioners (with the exception of the Black Soap Purification Masque one from Shea Moisture) and I always just said I made my own because I haven’t come across one that’s “store” bought BUT I think I have found one!! It’s the Bee-U-Ti-Ful Moisturizing Deep Conditioner by Bee Mine Products Inc. This YUMMY deep conditioner comes in 2 sizes— 8 oz for $18.97 and 16 oz for $28.97. I have seen it on CurlMart for quite some time now and there are quite a few really positive reviews on it! It got 4.5 out of 5 stars as a matter of fact so it’s been tried and true so I am so happy I was able to get my hands on some. Just a little note, the labels on the products I was gifted are different than what you see on their website. I love the packaging! It’s so cute and I love how the brand uses the theme of the Bee all throughout their product descriptions, etc. I love marketing lol :o)

***Sort of a Sidebar — Another thing about Bee Mine Products Inc. is the story of it’s inception, if you check out the about page, you’ll read that the owner suffered some serious health problems (and by the grace of GOD has bounced back!) and she began losing her hair due to the trauma. She refused to lose any more hair and decided to make her own products to help grow her hair back and thus came Bee Mine! Her story is inspiring because I suffered hair loss due to trauma as well to see how her experiences didn’t hold her back but only brought on success through a business which in turn can actually be viewed as a ministry—helping other women (and men!) maybe get through a challenging time in their life by making them feel better about how they at least look if they don’t feel so great on the inside. It’s the little things that may help in the BIGGEST way. She has a serious testimony and I really wanted to share that because it’s inspiring and I know it’s not always the easiest to be as open and candid as she was :o)

Product Description

We are pleased to announce the release of our BEE•U•Ti•FUL Moisturizing Deep Conditioner; our first protein-free deep conditioner that helps to detangle your hair and provide excellent manageability. This deep conditioner is made with creamy and emollient Cupuacu butter, to promote smooth and soft hair while boosting the rebirth of the hair’s natural moisture and elasticity. Highly beneficial for dry and damaged hair. BEE•U•Ti•FUL also provides some protection from damaging UV-A and UV-B rays and helps to restore shine and moisture to stressed hair.

Ingredients

Distilled water, Cetearyl Alcohol, BTMS (mild emulsifier), 100% Unrefined Shea Butter , 100% Organic Coconut Oil, Cupuacu Butter, Calendula Extract, Chamomile Extract, Organic Raw Honey, Paraben Free Preservative, Fragrance (Phthalate Free). Silicone – Free / SLS – Free / Paraben – Free / Protein Free

This DC is a medium thick cream and has the most delicious coconut scent (which you know I LOVE), it’s very sweet and seems to have a hint of vanilla. Mmmmm I love smelling sweet lol The best thing about this awesome DC is it is Very concentrated so I didn’t have to use much at all! I was pleasantly surprised because I always have to use quite a bit of product to cover all this hair but this distributed very well on wet hair. I know the price point is a bit high BUT I definitely think it is worth it because a) this is a DC so it’s not something I need to use every week; maybe 2x a month so it will last quite a while. b) DC’s are typically priced higher than regular conditioners.

I washed with my Ayurvedic herb shampoo bar from Chagrin Valley and applied the Bee-U-Ti-Ful on wet hair while in the shower. I put a plastic cap and used my thermal hair turban and left the DC in for about 40 mins. My hair was SO soft, moisturized. I love that it contains honey and coconut oil because those two ingredients always work well in my hair. This is a GREAT winter DC since the winter months on the East coast are so freakin dry ugh! But yes, my hair was quite easy to detangle, I didn’t need to use my Denman brush, I just finger combed and gently removed any snags. Oh and it’s protein free so for those of you with protein sensitivities …try it out! I know a lot of DC’s do contain protein because they are meant to be more of a treatment rather than a “daily” conditioner.

If you check out the ingrediants (you see how ALL-natural they are!), you’ll notice cupuacu butter and calendula extract. I am trying to “branch out” lol and try products that have butters and oils/extracts that I don’t always use i.e. shea and coconut lol so I was intrigued by the cupuacu and calendula. So the cupuacu butter helps restore elasticity and strengthen hair because it is high in essential fatty acids and it also gives some sun protection which is always good if you spend a lot of time outdoors. Calendula (which I have been hearing about lately for some reason lol) is antiseptic, anti fungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties so this DC would be beneficial for those of us with scalp issues. Calendula also improves elasticity, penetrates the core of the hair shaft to help restore Keratin levels which means less breakage! So overall this is a great deep conditioner and I will be adding it to my .essentials list!!

Check out the results! Here’s my hair wet after I rinsed out the DC:
